Ukraine social community is a community organised by the NGO Institute of Creative Technologies and Mass Media. Its goal is to inspire and support ideas of non-profit organisations and social activists to engage in actions for their communities. Volunteers register on the website and post up their idea, before receiving advice about how to get it set up in new media by a volunteer team. The team monitors and moderates diary entries, photos and videos posted by the volunteers and also any person may become an e-volunteer and comment on the content posted by others. An online platform trains activists to present their work on the Internet and helps them do it.

Who are the e-volunteers?

The first volunteers attended ‘races’ to develop the idea of online platforms. Once the races commenced, the more active and determined ones, who spent more time on this project, became volunteers. They are therefore good at detecting negative signals and mistaken users.

How many e-volunteers are involved?

The Ukraine social community includes 25 volunteers.

Whom do they address the project to? Who is the recipient?

Non-profit organisations, social activists, people with disabilities, young leaders, the media, non-government organisations.

How do they verify the e-volunteers’ competences before they start the co-operation with them?

Our volunteers are working in the field of new media and the Internet. So the work they completed previously can be seen online and analysed.

How do they ensure the safety and the quality of the e-volunteers’ work?

Administrators of the online platform appoint new members after meetings. Administrators control the messages, they are moderated.
