The GREENHOUSE platform

The GREENHOUSE is an implementation platform by ECOWEEK for ecology, innovation and entrepreneurship for society and environment. It is a base for creativity and a new ecological approach, a point for awareness, a point for information, a point for innovative thinking and social entrepreneurship. It encourages collaboration with the local authorities, an opportunity for the best innovative ideas to be rewarded, further developed and implemented. It runs workshops and incubators for students and young professionals from a variety of backgrounds , such as architects, designers, landscape architects, engineers, environmentalists, managers and others. Expert professionals are guiding teams of volunteers from Greece, Serbia, Poland and other countries. The tasks of the team include design development of REAL projects and attending meetings with the professional supervisors, consultants, and the client for whom the solution is being made, such as municipalities, communities, NGOs, private and public companies. The challenge for the GREENHOUSE team is to make the projects implementable with limited budget, through co-operation with professional, commercial, industrial, volunteer groups.

Who are the e-volunteers?

We will recruit e-volunteers from Poland, Greece, Israel and Serbia where GREENHOUSE platform has been formed. Communication and organisational activities of specific e-volunteering experts that will devote their time and knowlegde, is already taking place. Such experts include local partners, mentors and coordinators of ECOWEEK event internationally, which is integral part of the GREENHOUSE platform.

How many e-volunteers are involved?

The plan is to involve 4 (four) e-volunteers from countries such as Poland, Greece, Israel and Serbia where realisation of the GREENHOUSE platform has already started and is ongoing.

Whom do they address the project to? Who is the recipient?

The GREENHOUSE benefits local communities, intervening in public spaces (parks, squares, buildings), schools and centers for special needs. With the community, local authorities and experts, projects are implemented. GREENHOUSE participants are students and young professionals, mentored by local and foreign experts. They receive experience and training an advantage for future employment.

How do they verify the e-volunteers’ competences before they start the co-operation with them?

We have already collaborated with specific e-volunteers that were working in organisation teams, mentoring teams and management of ECOWEEK event as well as realisation for the GREENHOUSE platform. Collaboration with e-volunteers for at least 8 months have given us a proven track record of their capacities, expertise and working skills. If more e-volunteers are necessary, they will be interviewed by the expert team, evaluating their skills potential in: leadership, empowerment, professional skills, personal qualities, commitment, past experience, communication skills, and their capacity to deliver, to maintain timeschedules and deadlines and to work in a team.

How do they ensure the safety and the quality of the e-volunteers’ work?

In every GREENHOUSE platform, ECOWEEK is fully involved in all the processes and steps taken by e-volunteers and communication is taking place on a daily basis. Every month, all e-volunteers send a written progress report and for any bigger steps, we are continuously consulting each other, since it’s a mutual effort. E-volunteers are often guided by local partners, established professionals that have more than 10 years experience in the industry.
